The stock Market crash of 2008 and 2009 is very troubling for those that are in retirement. If you have more than 5 years until retirement you could be sitting on a goldmine. This is where if you are debt free you are able to purchase more mutual funds shares and buy while the market is on sale. Being debt free, means you can do that, if you’re not then don’t worry about the market. Worry about becoming debt free! Unless you are planning to start your own business or inventing something, your best wealth building tool is your job. You need to spend less than you make so that you have room to save for retirement, your kid’s college tuition and having fun later in life. Live on less than you make so that the market shifts don’t effect you.
